The Power Of Madonna

So, after I watched last night's 'Glee' episode that dedicated to all things Madonna, I feel like I also want to weigh in (pretty much like everybody else in US right now).

The verdict: it's super brilliant! - I know I might sounds exagerating, but I feel like the episode lived up to the hype, that's been build up months prior the airing (13.5 million viewers can't go wrong). I love the fact there's moral in the episode, as well as beautifully made cover of Madonna number - and to be quite honest, some of the numbers are even better that the original Madonna's. I honestly never been so happy with 'Glee' songs since "Don't Stop Believin'"

So yeah, people basically been waiting for the musical numbers of Madonna songs and I think they deserves individual reviews.

"Express Yourself"
Love the outfits on the girls, the coreography was cool too, it's fun to see the Glee kids getting a little bit dirty and sexy and somehow they look grown up too. And on the personal note, I somehow can't take my eyes off Quinn. She's hot, that woman.

"Borderline/Open Your Heart"
The mash up number from Rachell and Finn is super catchy - beautifully mashed and sung too. I love the scene when they walked through the hallway with wind machine and in the background there's various girls with Madonna looks walking around, which I think its a fun little detail that made the number memorable.

"Like A Virgin"
This number is so memorable to me because the brilliant editing, coregraphed sexy bedroom moves (not that kind though) and the variety of the singers. In this one we see our Glee kids and Mr. Schue about doing the nasty to the song and for the first time we hear Santana sings and girl can sing. Though 'Virgin' is not my favorite Madonna song, I really love this rendition.

"Vogue"
The ultimate reason why I wanna see the episode! - Sue Sylvester doing the Vogue video. This number is literally copy every single thing from the original video and it's dead on! I also love Kurt and Mercedes in it. The surprising thing out of this, is the fact that Sue can sing! And she didn't suck at all. She got me at 'Vogue'.

"4 Minutes"
I personally went crazy (in a very positive way) once the original song was released because it sounds amazing, danceable and it also another reincarnation of Madonna that I always looking forward to. But I have to admit this Kurt-Mercedes duet is a killer and combined with the marching band beats, this one is even better from the original one. Besides, in the scene, Mercedes rocked the Cheerios outfit! And so does Kurt. Fun!

"What It Feels Like For A Girl"
This is a case of a good irony: the song was originally sung by woman and it's about telling how hard being a girl and then in the episode this song was sung by the guys - and it sounds better. I've never really listened to the original song until that episode and it's my favorite song to sing for the last couple of days. Glee made it better.

"Like A Prayer"
The grand finale number for the episode and it's grand. I love the song since couple years ago and I think I prefer the original more than Glee version, although Mercedes gave it a very soulful touch that always sounds nice. Overall, a great choice for closing number.

So there you go, my reviews of the scenes and musical aspect of the episode. I been watched it 3 times sinceit aired yesterday and can't get over it! You guys have to download the songs cause all of em sounds awesome. Madonna works wonder.

Xtina 4.0

It's Official!!

(New York – NY– March 25th, 2010) - With 30 million albums sold worldwide and the prestigious honor of being the only artist under the age of 30 included in Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of the 100 greatest singers of all time, 5 time Grammy Award winner Christina Aguilera has already achieved an unprecedented level of success. Aguilera’s been hard at work in the studio for the past year and is pleased to announce the release of her highly anticipated 4th studio album Bionic (RCA Records) on June 8th, 2010. The first single from Bionic is the fiercely energetic anthem “Not Myself Tonight”, produced by Polow Da Don. The song will premiere on ChristinaAguilera.com at 6pm EDT on 3/30, impacts radio on 4/5 and will be available on iTunes on 4/13.

Bionic features songs co-written by Aguilera along with her much buzzed about collaborations including Sia, Tricky Stewart, Polow Da Don, Le Tigre, Hill & Switch, and Ladytron among others. Aguilera notes, “Working on this album with so many talented artists and producers that I admire was really an amazing experience. The artists I chose to work with added so many unique sonic layers to Bionic. My intention was to step into their world and what they do combined with my own vision and sound. The results were magic.” The album also features a ballad produced and written by Linda Perry titled “Lift Me Up”. The title Bionic reflects Aguilera’s ability to take her range to new levels and use her voice in various ways never heard before.

Aguilera describes the album as a unique mix of many genres and styles of music, “I was able to explore and create a fresh, sexy feel using both electronic and organic elements with subject matter ranging from playful to introspective. I am so excited for my fans to hear the new sound. It is something I don’t think anyone will expect.”

In addition to completing the album which was all recorded from her home studio after the birth of her first son, Christina also completed production on her first film, “Burlesque.” The film, which co-stars Cher, Stanley Tucci, and Kristen Bell will be released by ScreenGems this fall.

Goodness! Finally, the wait is over! I can't wait to listen the new single, the good thing is the release of the album is 6 days away from my birthday. I can't wait!

The Energy Never Dies

I actually I almost forgot that I have a concert to attend, a Black Eyed Peas concert. It was so much fun! It's kinda weird though, the day before the concert, I was working on BEP upcoming MIXER cover for April, and then my brother came in to the room and said "don't forget, BEP tomorrow night". I'm like.. spaced out. Anyway, LMFAO and Ludacris opened the shows which was alot of energy, but the guys from LMFAO really got in touch with the younger generations while Luda is more like veteran, that's just what I thought anyway.

The main show is, of course, the Black Eyed Peas and they really know how to work the crowds. People went wild! My favorite set was 'Rock Your Body' (my personal favorite), 'Imma Be' and Will.i.Am's DJ Setlist. As much as I wanted to say I love the encore, I kinda felt like the beats not really 'awesome' during 'Boom Boom Pow' and 'I Gotta Feeling' - but regardless it was the icing on the cake.

The guys from BEP are sooo much fun and energetic, this is my first time I saw someone famous up close (i'm such a dork, can't help it) and at one point I innocently started blew a kiss to Fergie - and she saw me and kinda waved back, thank God though, otherwise it'd be super awkward and creepy.

Glad that I didn't miss this show!

That Girl Is A Monster

Last week, On Dec 2nd, I went to see Gaga's Monster Ball Tour and it's absolutely the best concert I've ever seen, so far. The wait was pain in the butt, but it was worthed. The show was spectacular.. and I picked the perfect date! it's extra special because it was the night Gaga go nominated for 5 Grammys! (that's the reason why she delayed the show)

The stage was simple, only have 3 giant monitors and a big lights framing the stages (and I think a treadmill track). I love the videos that shown throughout the shows.. it's artsy and weird and sick and fashion at the same time. Best Best Best show of the year!

I managed to took photos from my phone. It's pathetic but here they are!

Ga Ga Ooh La La

It's obvious: I'm obsessed with Lady Gaga. She's everywhere, in magazines, blogs, itunes, youtube, ipods whatever. And she's a hell of a pop artist. Her musics are extremely catchy and her fashion is sick. She is the art of her own works. Her new album The Fame Monster out Nov.

MIXER November '09: Megan Fox

It's the Hollywood Issue! and you know why I put Megan Fox on it ('cause I'm obsessed with her). The Transformers princess caught my eye since the first time I saw her in - of course - Transformers. But I became obsessed when she starred in "Jennifer's Body"; the movie is so quirky, almost B-Movie ish, dark, geeky and sexy. She's this half demon, half resident bitch in high school that's so brilliant to me. Megan Fox screams hotness.

MIXER October '09: Adam Lambert

I've been planning to put Adam on the cover since I heard his performance of "Track of My Tears" which moved me so much. I felt the emotion of the song and I kinda clicked with it. Besides, I like his flamboyant style on Idol stage - which gave Idol a much-needed extra 'kick'. I think he's the first idol contestant that makes me excited & wanting for more. To this day I still think that Adam Lambert is the real winner.

The Stars Align

This week has been exciting despite the mellow weekend I have been experiencing (thanks to the weather, now I'm not feeling well). The classes have been great so far, met up with classmates (i called em personally as my extended sisters) and also the new Indonesian friends. So it's been a fun week.

So.. I just watched the VMA 2009 and! I must say it was the craziest show so far! (lebay). Well let's break it down of what's the highlights of the show:

- MJ tribute was awesome for an opening number and Janet just simply killed it when she performed a dance sequence ("Scream") with her late brother on screen behind her.

- Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift when she was accepting her Best Female Video award. It's just sad to be completely honest. Kanye used to be cool but now he just a tool. However, I agree Beyonce deserves the award more, but hey it was fan voted awards. Btw, Beyonce's reaction shot was priceless.

- Lady Gaga. Well, the most awesomest yet her most gruesome performance ever of "Paparazzi". It was crazy! referencing "Phantom of the Opera", the chandelier, the thong, the blood!? U have to see to believe.

- P!nk & Shakira wore the exact same Balmain Fall '09 leather minidress. I love it! despite it would be called as "oops" moment. Btw, P!nk's performance was gutsy! so exciting - singing while doin' trapeze? awesome.

- Beyonce's winning Video Of The Year. She's so gracious that she called Taylor to give her a second chance to have "her moment" which was robbed by Kanye. So humble that lady.

So there you go. I love every minute of this year's VMA. It was grand, it was different. It was starry. Goodnight!

Shout out to my sister: Happy Birthday!

MIXER August '09: Katy Perry

She's one of the hottest breakout female artists of the year, and she's cute! Katy Perry's songs have been played countlessly and gained so many good reviews (and fans too) and of course I wouldn't miss her to be on the cover!

Fierce People

Some of the group shot that I adore. Like to recreate these someday (not the D&G one tho).

MIXER July '09: Green Day

Green Day
is back after 5 years absent from releasing new record. I have no other reason why I chose em. I just like them styles in this pic, and I love their hit "Boulevard of Broken Dreams".

MIXER June '09: Bono

I like U2's new single, Get On Your Boots, cuz it's fun and upbeat. Besides, it was used for Dolce & Gabbana Fall 09 show, so it's fashionable (I Think). Regardless, Bono is a legend in his own right, he's a philantrophist and a rocker! good combo.

MIXER May '09: Taylor Swift

If this moment were like it was 2000, Miley Cyrus would be the Britney Spears, Jonas Brothers would fill the spot for NSync and Taylor Swift will be the Christina Aguilera (the talented one. Although Demi Lovato is the best Disney singers. I know, I happens to know alot about Disney stars). Since I tend to look talent over fame, I pick Taylor for the cover. I think she's a wonderful songwriter and her song, as sweet as it can be, it's very catchy. So, which ever Jonas who broke up with her, shame on you. D

MIXER April '09: Beyoncé

Queen B is on the cover, two to be exact. I can't decide which cover suits the best, so I just going for both of 'em. So I put is as so-called collector edition. Beyoncé is the hottest diva in the business today! she's everywhere. Her latest album is her best work yet! I'd definitely put a ring on it. D

On The Record

Hey.. it's been a while. The weather is in good behavior lately, no more over-coldness.. and also, the snow begins to fade. alright.

Well, it's been a lil busy for me now, especially the fashion projects. I got 2 projects, one is a set of blouse and pants and the non-textile garment due 2 weeks from now. I dunno if I can do that in time, but.. I gotta have to work under pressure I guess. I have the cool idea for the design, but I won't release it for now cuz I don't wanna just talking, better wait for the result.

Anyway, last night was the Grammy Awards! not really great tho, but the music is tight; Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, Al Green, Katy Perry, Adele etc. I like Adele latelys (check out "Chasing Pavements".. it's gorge) and happy she won awards. John Mayer also won too ("Say")! Too bad, lots of diva no shows, Rihanna & Chris Brown cancelled the arrival (u guys shud check the entertainment news, it's everywhere!). Oh btw, Estelle's "American Boy" is my latest favorite. The Grammy effect. ha.

Oh! I recommend you to watch "He's Just Not That Into You" (Jen Aniston, Drew, Scarlett, Ben Affleck etc.) It's a good, fun movie. Good for chicks tho. I never really like the cheesy romantic movie, but this one is an exception. Good one!

Ok.. I leave u now. have a good one :D

MIXER February '09: Coldplay

Two words: Cold. Play. The February issue is here! and Coldplay is the cover star. I love the band's last record and their new album isn't dissapoint either. Well. yea. that's it. :D

Pretty Amazing Week

Thanksgiving Holiday. Britney's Comeback. Gucci (we talk about it later). Sounds great huh?

To me, this early December pretty smashin'. I really enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday (and extra) and a new pair of shoes don't hurt either. It's hi-top sneaker, white, and cool as shit! :D. It's Gucci and it's sale. I really saving up this whole year for a nice pair of high sneakers: a substitute for boots cuz boots look funny on me.

These couple of months I'm ADDICTED to TV! I dk why.. but the shows are got me engaged! despite the crappy reviews and ratings, I still love me some Top Model, Paris BFF etc. Overall, TV rocks. LOL. (Tonite, there's gonna be Victoria Secret Show and Grammy Nominations Live! psyched!).

But there's still a lil suck-part: School. God, the exams.. the projects... those starting to gettin on me.

O well, enuf for the updates.. see ya soon! D

MIXER December '08: Twilight

Another month, another cover. MIXER December features the 'it' movie of the year: Twilight. I Decided to put the stars (Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson) on the cover just because they're ridiculously good looking and! the buzz is undeniable. Twilight got a lot of raves since earlier this year, so, I think they fit the bill for December cover. Enjoy! (D)

ps: It also marks the new logo of MIXER! it's official!

Movies Night

This Veterans Day, I just spent a whole day lazy-ing around and eat. I ate a Korean noodle, banana nut cake, doughnut, fried rice, mee-rob and veggies. I was mad greedy.

Anyway, it's Veteran's Day so I just act the part :p. O yeah, I watched Hellboy 2 & Narnia: Prince of Caspian. These two movies really makes me wonder: where's the magic? Although the CGI effects are kick-ass, I don't see any excitement in the storyline. Despite all of that, I enjoyed watching them and I need that, 'cause last Monday was crappy day. I need to relax.

My class will start in 8 hrs! (Yes, it's 1 AM here) and I need my sleep. Bye! :D
